The Hyundai Tucson is available with three powertrains. The conventional gas versions are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 187 horsepower and the 178 lb-ft of torque. Gas powered Tucson trims feature an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Tucson Hybrid features a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine and an electric motor, for a total system power of 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Hybrid models get a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Tucson Plug-In Hybrid also has the 1.6-liter engine, along with an electric motor and 13.8kwh battery. It uses the same six-speed automatic as the standard hybrid. With 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, this is the most powerful option in the Tucson lineup. At this time, the Tucson Plug-In Hybrid is only in select states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
